We will do the operation:

[tex]\frac{2}{9}+\frac{4}{9}[/tex]

As both fractions have the same denominator, we add the numerators, and we obtain:

[tex]\frac{2}{9}+\frac{4}{9}=\frac{6}{9}=\frac{2}{3}[/tex]

Where we simplified 6/9 to 2/3 by dividing by 2.

This means that 2/9+4/9 is 2/3.
