Hey there!

A transmutation is the process of a chemical element changing into another. This often happens through radioactive decay (beta, alpha, etc.), nuclear fission, and nuclear fusion, which involves changes to the actual chemical makeup of the element, making it into another.

Hope this helped you out! :-)
