9/4 ÷ 3/4
=9/4×4/3
=36/12
=3

because you are dividing fractions, you take the reciprocal of the denominator and multiply it to the numerator, giving you (9/4) x (4/3). the 4's cancel out, leaving you with 9/3, which is 3.
